Jambos boss preps a Porter bid

Laszlo felt Romanov understood his wishes after they talked for "about two hours" on the telephone, although he hinted that finances may be a problem.

However, Laszlo is keen for the size of his squad to be cut this month, not just to facilitate the signing of new players.

"I don't like to have a squad of 40 players," he said. "I would like to have a squad of 25 players.

"We must be clear. If you work on tactics, you can't train with 30 players. You need two teams on the field.

"If we have the resources, we will bring in two players. Not 20, but it's good to have 20 names."

With Hearts players experiencing delays to their payment several times this season, it is believed the club would be keen to sell some of their star players.
